Steve Runge oversees operations at George Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airport which include the Airport Operations Center, Airside, SMS, Landside, Security/Badging and Safety & Emergency Preparedness.
Runge began his career about three decades ago with Continental Airlines working in various operations, safety and regulatory compliance positions at Kansas City International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport and Houston Airports. He joined Houston Airports in 2002 as an Airport Operations Specialist and has held a variety of progressively responsible positions at Ellington Airport (EFD), William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Most recently, Runge served as Houston Airports' Interim Chief of Operations.
Runge holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master of Science degree in Aviation Safety from the University of Central Missouri. He is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) with the American Association of Airport Executives and holds Private Pilot and Remote Pilot Certificates with the Federal Aviation Administration.
